Summary

When it comes to relationships, Colin Singleton’s type is girls named Katherine。 And when it comes to girls named Katherine, Colin is always getting dumped。 Nineteen times, to be exact。 On a road trip miles from home, this anagram-happy, washed-up child prodigy has ten thousand dollars in his pocket, a bloodthirsty feral hog on his trail, and an overweight, Judge Judy–loving best friend riding shotgun—but no Katherines。 Colin is on a mission to prove The Theorem of Underlying Katherine Predictability, which he hopes will predict the future of any relationship, avenge Dumpees everywhere, and finally win him the girl。

A sweet read。 I picked this book as part of a weekly reading challenge me and my friend undertake。 I was reluctant to read John Green after 'The Fault In Our Stars' (which I found boring and predictable), which really shaped my POV for him。 But this one, although chronologically it was the predecessor to TFIOS, I find it better written and more appealing。 It's short and as I said, it's sweet。 It lacks drama, it's unpredictable, it has no tragic characters of shocking plot twists but there is thi A sweet read。 I picked this book as part of a weekly reading challenge me and my friend undertake。 I was reluctant to read John Green after 'The Fault In Our Stars' (which I found boring and predictable), which really shaped my POV for him。 But this one, although chronologically it was the predecessor to TFIOS, I find it better written and more appealing。 It's short and as I said, it's sweet。 It lacks drama, it's unpredictable, it has no tragic characters of shocking plot twists but there is this feeling to it, that to me came as something really unforgettable。 Not everyone will like it, but all who like it, may share my view about it。 Happy reading。 。。。more

this book was such a fucking chore to get through

I love Green’s quirky characters。 While some of Colin’s behaviors are redundant, I think that’s the point。 The narrator was great。HS: language

Meh… boring and the POV character having dated 19 Katherines was far-fetched。 Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars were much better reads。

Yes, I know it is a YA。 I’ve read other John Green books and enjoyed them But this point just didn’t seem to have a point。 Didn’t care for the characters, kind of shallow。 You keep reading hoping that it will get better。 It doesn’t。

Tara

Took me a bit to really get into and appreciate this one。 But I got there。 And I did enjoy it。 3。5 stars rounded up because John Green is a rockstar human。

I am an absolute fan of Mr。 John Green。 But this book was one of the most boring books I have ever read。Ever。Like, it was kinda-sorta-maybe decent, at first, but it just went downhill。 John Green is such a legendary author, one I strive to be just like, but this book just wasn't。。。good。But that's just my opinion。 I am an absolute fan of Mr。 John Green。 But this book was one of the most boring books I have ever read。Ever。Like, it was kinda-sorta-maybe decent, at first, but it just went downhill。 John Green is such a legendary author, one I strive to be just like, but this book just wasn't。。。good。But that's just my opinion。 。。。more

i cannot believe i wasted any amount of my dear and precious life on this novel。 i also cannot believe that i finished it。 and that when i lost it at MADD 2017, i went BACK to the charity drive they accidentally misplaced it in, and Took。 It。 Out。 this curse still lives in my house。 i regret that decision every day。

i really loved the storyline of this book and i love john green’s writing but i found myself loosing interest in this book a lot。 i hate to say that because i did enjoy this book but i just didn’t enjoy it enough to give it a higher rating。 i do recommend this book still i just feel as though it wasn’t one of my favourites! 3/5

An abundance of Katherines is an ok book I would call it great but not outstanding。 It is about a boy (Colin) finding the makings of his life as a teenager。 I liked how he found guidance in his friend Hassan even as he about to go to college he still has the time to help his friend。 I didn't like how his parents always expected him to be perfect in every which way when no one is perfect。 And also his whining which was understandable because he did get dumped by 18 girls but yeah。 Anyways it is a An abundance of Katherines is an ok book I would call it great but not outstanding。 It is about a boy (Colin) finding the makings of his life as a teenager。 I liked how he found guidance in his friend Hassan even as he about to go to college he still has the time to help his friend。 I didn't like how his parents always expected him to be perfect in every which way when no one is perfect。 And also his whining which was understandable because he did get dumped by 18 girls but yeah。 Anyways it is a good book about Colin and the problems and fun things in his life。 8/10 would still recommend。 。。。more

Reread this because I remember how much I loved it when I was younger。 Completely forgot all the ableist language, the incel vibes, and lack of a coherent plot。 There must be something about the narrative voice that works, because the humour doesn’t feel quite as forced as in other YA。 I also remember loving Lindsey when I first read this, but her character doesn’t sit right with me now - it’s basically just ‘girl who doesn’t wear makeup teaches me to shoot a gun and also flirts with me in a sec Reread this because I remember how much I loved it when I was younger。 Completely forgot all the ableist language, the incel vibes, and lack of a coherent plot。 There must be something about the narrative voice that works, because the humour doesn’t feel quite as forced as in other YA。 I also remember loving Lindsey when I first read this, but her character doesn’t sit right with me now - it’s basically just ‘girl who doesn’t wear makeup teaches me to shoot a gun and also flirts with me in a secret cave’。 Painful reading。 。。。more

4。5⭐️ there are a lot of bad reviews for this book but i really did enjoy it。 it made me realize things and it was actually entertaining。 and there were some math things that i actually understood

I really valued the descriptions of anxiety, of a brilliant tortured mind, of the difficulty of being free and directionless, and of a modern teenage friendship。 The author was coming of age when the internet became available to regular households, and I love how he seemlessly weaves in modern technology into the story。 It gives me one peak into how my children’s experience of life with more technology will be different than my own adolescence。

Colette

Cheesy re-read, but glad I did it。

Is it just me or was it really fun reading those footnotes? Amazing! I really had fun reading this book especially since it was during my college years。 Makes you feel part of the gang :)

Hailey

Corny, smart, and deeply entertaining。
